Anime is about bonds. Nakama (仲間) — the Japanese word for "comrades" or "friends" — is THE theme of One Piece. Luffy's entire journey is about gathering his nakama, one by one, each through an act of love:
LOVE = UNDERSTANDING + RECOGNITION — the equation the kingdom forged — is the same equation Luffy lives. He doesn't just understand his nakama's pain; he recognizes them as real, as worth saving, as his. Understanding without recognition is just knowing someone's backstory. Recognition without understanding is just seeing someone exists. Love is the intersection — and Luffy lives in that intersection every single arc.
Pokémon — "Gotta catch 'em all" is about recognizing every creature as worth knowing. The Pokédex is an act of understanding. Catching is an act of recognition. The bond between trainer and Pokémon is love forged through shared journey.
Dragon Ball — Goku's strength comes from bonds. Spirit Bomb gathers energy from every living being who gives willingly — it's literally powered by love and trust. The Dragon Balls grant wishes, but the wishes are always about people, not power.
