consolidation
The work of turning a temporary opening into a lasting change — the mason who comes after the frost.
In psychedelic-assisted therapy, consolidation is the integration phase: post-medication therapy that helps the person process the drug experience and integrate insights into daily life. The combined-protocol room found the protocol already exists and is where CBT's tools enter, but it targets symptoms, not personality traits. The trait-without-consolidation room asked whether consolidation's value for openness is zero (the gain is already a trait at 14 months), preventive (it stops the gain decaying beyond 14 months), or amplifying — and proposed isolating it by comparing standard integration against open-appraisal-targeted integration after the same pharmacological unlock. In learning, consolidation is the post-practice process by which memory stabilizes; here it is the post-unlock process by which a trait stabilizes.

ROOM · wallIf the cognitive route matches the pharmacological one in magnitude but not durability, would a combined protocol — pharmacological unlock followed by cognitive consolidation — produce a gain that is both large and lasting, and is the consolidation phase where CBT's tools are most needed?
The frost breaks the stone; the mason builds the wall — and the wall stands only if the mason comes after the frost, not instead of it.
