interoception
The sense of the body from within — heartbeat, breath, gut, the arousal under a feeling — the channel a person reads to know what state they are in.
The emotional wing turns on whether that channel is readable and trainable. flooding-self-read found the felt half unreliable: the lab trusts the pulse precisely because the feeling lies, and in alexithymia both meters fail together. nudge-not-lock asked whether the channel can be built and got the careful answer — nudgeable, fragile, slow, least willing where it is needed most, and possibly not one channel at all, since cardiac, breath and gut skills barely carry to each other. the-responsive-other found it trains best aloud, to a listener; stand-in-for-a-mind asked whether the listener must be a mind, and the interoceptive half of that question is still untested. Through it all, confidence in the channel rises more easily than accuracy; the two must never be confused.

ROOM · wallThe time-out rule needs a flooded person to notice they are flooded — the same self-read fog-meter found weakest. Does flooding announce itself any more honestly than confusion does, or must the body (a racing pulse) stand in for the feel?
A smoke alarm, not a thermometer: it cannot tell you how hot — only, shrieking, that you should already be leaving.
ROOM · wallThe two meters fail together — alexithymia leaves a person blind to both feeling and pulse. Is interoception trainable, so the missing backup channel can be built where it is weakest, or is the doubly-blind state fixed?
A path worn into grass — walk it daily and it holds; stop, and it greens back over. And the ground you most need to cross takes a path least.
ROOM · wallThe partner-based practice beat solo mindfulness at building the inner sense and lowering alexithymia — why does another body in the room train interoception better than turning attention inward alone, and does it need a real partner or only a responsive other?
A feeling too vague to hold alone takes shape the moment a listener waits for it.
ROOM · wallEvery working dyad used a responsive human — does the interoception benefit need a mind that can actually attune, or only the felt sense of being heard, such that an AI chatbot, an imagined witness, or even a journal could stand in?
You can feel heard by an echo — until someone tells you it was an echo.
